Primary Asset to showcase healthcare premises of tomorrow

The Community Healthcare Campus, developed by Primary Asset, Willmott Dixon and partners, is showcasing how tomorrow’s healthcare will be delivered.

The project will be unveiled at the INSITE 09 ‘Constructing the Future’ exhibition and conference taking place from 1 - 4 June, at the BRE Innovation Park in Watford.

Partnering with construction specialist Willmott Dixon, Primary Asset is the primary care advisor leading the delivery of the Community Healthcare Campus. The healthcare building is set amongst nine houses, each demonstrating a variety of sustainable and green features with a strong focus on how zero carbon can be achieved.

The concept of the Community Healthcare Campus harnesses a wide range of innovative technologies. These include an interactive reception with a self check-in point and smart card system that links directly with a patient’s medical history prompting any checks or tests required prior to an appointment. The facility also incorporates a modern pharmacy with touch screen health point; extended services and a robotic dispensary; an enhanced waiting experience with increased privacy; integrated internet access and seating, in addition to a covered roof terrace complete with a fitness area and a ‘sensory garden’; displaying plants and herbs to touch, smell, taste and see.

Dr Mike Shillingford, Head of Healthcare, MedicX Group comments:

“Primary Asset is dedicated to developing the facilities that will support the new age of healthcare and is proud to be showcasing our view of how tomorrow’s healthcare will be delivered. This building creates an experience which is no longer focused on sitting and waiting to visit your GP, instead there are things to see and do; from the fitness area to the self diagnostics pod, where patients can interact directly with the practice.”

“The campus is also a model of sustainability and has been created out of a former school building. As new build is very carbon intensive there is a strong focus from central Government for the reutilisation of existing buildings.”
