With this project, Dr Tonge and partners wanted new premises close to their existing practice. This posed a significant challenge due to the location in the town centre, in a conservation area.
However, the local authority, Bassetlaw District Council owned a site adjacent to their existing premises, and after extensive negotiations work was able to start on building a state-of-the-art medical centre in sympathy with its conservation area surroundings. An archaeological survey was undertaken prior to the commencement of building work and monitored during construction.
Riverside Health Centre is a six doctor practice. As part of the planning agreement, Primary Asset undertook to improve public amenities in the area, including the adjacent large car park and riverside footpaths.
